In 1 Corinthians 4:1-13 Paul had come down pretty hard on his friends in Corinth, but they needed it. They were fighting and divided, and with biting sarcasm and irony, Paul pointed out in verses 1-13 that the source of the problem was arrogance. Lest they be confused about his motives, Paul told the Corinthians his true purpose wasn’t to harm them, but rather to help them. Like a loving father, he was pushing them to become like Jesus. All of us need people in our lives pushing us to be like Jesus and Paul’s words help us understand the kind of people we need and what we should expect from them.
